What is Letterly Email Assistant?
Letterly is a free sales email writing assistant that you install on your own Windows computer. Describe the purpose of an email, choose its type and tone, and Letterly gives you an editable subject and message to start from. Paste a customer’s email and it suggests a reply and lists the questions you need to answer.
Letterly runs only on the computer where it is installed and keeps your drafts in a local database. It does not send email itself: you copy the finished text into Gmail, Outlook or any other email client. Version 1.0 uses built-in business-email patterns and text clean-up rules; no AI model provider is connected by default, so always review a draft before sending it.
Use it as a sales email generator for introductions, cold emails, follow-up emails, proposals and thank-you notes, as an email reply generator for customer questions, and as a library of business email templates your team can reuse.

Email writer
Enter the purpose and context, pick Sales, Introduction, Follow-up, Proposal or Thank You, and a Professional, Friendly or Persuasive tone. Edit the draft, save it or try another variation.
Reply assistant
Paste a customer’s message and choose a Short, Detailed or Formal reply. Letterly suggests a response and highlights up to five questions or requests in the message.
Improve a draft
Paste an existing message or rough notes and polish, shorten or professionalise the text before you send it.
Reusable templates
Save templates with a name, category, subject and message, then fill in the customer, company and product to create a personalised draft.
Draft history
Every draft is saved automatically. Search by subject, text, original request or type, then edit or copy any earlier draft.
Accounts and roles
Each person registers their own account and sees only their own drafts. Admins manage member roles from the User access page.
Private by design
Letterly listens on this computer only and stores drafts in its own SQL Server Express database, so your sales emails never leave your PC.
Simple setup
The installer downloads and installs SQL Server Express from Microsoft if needed, creates the database and starts Letterly as a Windows service.

You will need
- 64-bit Windows 10 (22H2) or Windows 11
- Administrator rights to install
- Internet access during setup, to download SQL Server Express if it is not installed
Get started
- Run the installer and approve the Windows administrator prompt.
- If asked, accept the SQL Server Express licence and wait while setup installs it and the database.
- Open Letterly at http://localhost:5187 and register your account.
The installation guide has every step. The setup creates the database for you, so there is no separate database script.
